ConclusionsIn this study, commercial 18650-type lithium ion batteries based on LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2/C (graphite) were electrochemically aged and analyzed to investigate the influence of aging on the thermal stability of the individual electrodes and the complete cell. The electrochemical performance and the accompanied capacity fading was mainly attributed to aging effects at the anode surface. While the cells cycled at a temperature of 45 ¡ÆC revealed a good performance due to the formation of an effective
