I am writing in relation to your newly released drama, Snowdrop. This drama is an insult to Koreans who fought for democracy.
The male lead is a terrorist who is misunderstood as a civilian who fought for democracy. Just a few decades ago, thousands of innocent Koreans who fought against dictatorship were framed as ‘terrorists’ and ruthlessly kidnapped and murdered by government agents.
The other main leads take on the names of real government agents who kidnapped and tortured civilians mercilessly during dictatorship, and portray them as “kind” people and attempt to justify their horrific acts. This drama is an insult to the civilians they murdered, and their families who are still living in torment to this day.
How is this different from justifying Nazi massacres and portraying the Nazi Gestapo as “kind” people who were justified by their “honest” convictions?
As a content creator accessed by the global audience, your channel has a responsibility at large to ensure that the content you stream does NOT defame victims of mass massacre.
The flawed perception that this drama will bring to your audience, including unsuspecting young children and international audience, will be extremely detrimental. It is at the same time the biggest insult your channel can bring to the innocent civilians who have sacrificed their life for democracy.
I strongly condemn the streaming of the drama Snowdrop and would like the drama to be taken down immediately.
